This is why most applications fail

Most job applications fail not because the applicant isn’t qualified—but because of strategy and execution mistakes.

Here are some of the reasons why applications go unnoticed or get rejected:
1. Not Tailoring your resume (CV) to the Job
Don’t send a generic resume. Customize it to the job posting. If your resume doesn’t speak directly to the job description, recruiters won’t even look at it.
Customize your resume for each job by including keywords from the job post and emphasizing the most relevant experience.
2. Missing Keywords (ATS Failure)
Many companies use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to scan resumes. If your resume lacks the right keywords, it never goes to the next level.
Your CV should include key words on the job posting.
3. No Cover Letter
Some applications are submitted without cover letters. Skipping the cover letter or using a copy-paste template shows a lack of interest or seriousness.
Write a personalized cover letter that explains why you’re interested in the role and how you can solve their problems.
4. Applying Too Late
If you're applying days or weeks after the job was posted, or on the deadline of the post, the role might already be filled or interviews are already underway, or you might not give your full attention to what is required.
So, set up job alerts and apply within the first 48 hours of posting for higher visibility.
5. Only Applying Online (and Nowhere Else)
Relying only on job boards is not sufficient. Most people also complain about scams online.
So, combine online applications with networking, informational interviews, and cold outreach.
